Harold’s answer, which was fired back in 12 minutes, was disturbing.  It ought to be studied by every state legislator and Member of Congress:  “But why should I get married if the state will help raise my child? The monetary benefit is more compelling than the commitment.”

If I were running for governor of Maryland, here's a speech I would give this weekend, injecting a fresh idea into the campaign:

"I will propose a new law to encourage cohabiting couples to marry. Most out-of-wedlock births are to couples who are committed enough to each other to live together. However, most cohabitations end within 18 months.

A recent study hit the news waves earlier this week proclaiming that a statistically significant portion of young adults who say they are sexually abstinent are diagnosed with a sexually transmitted disease (STD).

Scott Phelps on a recent trip to Minneapolis, Minnesota, was interviewed on KTIS My Faith Radio.  Scott shares about the recent change of focus on a federal level from abstinence education with teaching on marriage, to condom education and eliminating marriage language. 

 

Scott Phelps created a message series for youth groups to follow the Excel book.   Over one hundred teenagers attended the four week, eight lesson series at Harvest Bible Chapel in Naperville to learn from Joseph's life how to live in purity.
